Welcome to Somm.
Urban cellar door and bar.
Somm is proud to represent a stable of iconic wineries through our cellar door.
Located respectively in Hawke’s Bay, Martinborough, Marlborough and Central Otago, these brands encompass New Zealand’s most acclaimed wine regions. Each winery has a rich history, drawing from their love of the land and the love of their craft to create something truly special. Something that has traditionally only been experienced by visiting a winery’s cellar door.
Somm also boasts an extensive cellar list with distinctive, endearing and rare wines including Single Vineyard, Library vintages and large format wines.
We also offer Cellar Door pricing for any wine you wish to take home after your Somm visit.
Martinborough Vineyard, Martinborough
Established in 1980, Martinborough Vineyard is an iconic, pioneering producer of Martinborough with a commitment to the perfection of Pinot Noir. The first winery to plant Pinot Noir grapes in the famed region, today it is home to the oldest vines in the district. Artisan winemaking techniques, along with dedication to land preservation, and sharing a legacy of wine knowledge with future generations, has earned Martinborough Vineyard a continuous reputation for excellence.
Te Kairanga, Martinborough
In the 1880s, Martinborough’s founder, John Martin, farmed this very piece of land. In the 1980s a new generation were inspired to produce something even more special. Today our craft continues – to fully realise the potential of this incredible piece of land. While our land is steeped in history, our winemaking is very much focused on the future. Pinot Noir remains at the beating heart of Te Kairanga, small parcels of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling showcase the abundance of our region.
Vavasour, Marlborough
Vavasour is the founding winery of Marlborough’s smaller, cooler Awatere Valley. An intimate knowledge of this dramatic southern pocket of Marlborough rewards us with wines of extraordinary elegance, perfume and texture.
Mt Difficulty, Central Otago
Mt Difficulty is comprised of many vineyards, spanning Central Otago from Gibbston, to Lowburn Valley, to Bendigo, with their home still under the mountain at Bannockburn. Central Otago provides New Zealand’s only ‘continental’ style climate combined with unique soils ideally suited for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. Mt Difficulty continue to push the limits of what they are capable of, with experimental plantings of Chenin Blanc and Syrah.
Church Road, Hawke’s Bay
Celebrating over 125 years in wine making, Church Road have been at the forefront of the Hawke’s Bay winemaking region.
